origin story
DropGym was founded by Londoners Scott Hurst and Andy Gbormittah. Their shared passion for fitness and wellness led them to pool their entrepreneurial talents to create a new private gym concept with a focus on exceptional service, intimate facilities, science-led training and sustainable results.
Established Entrepreneurs
As an established entrepreneur and business advocate, Scott has had his own company since the age of 15, selling his music events enterprise at 17 and his sports journalism platform by age 24. For him, the inspiration behind DropGym began after Scott kickstarted his own health journey following a 30kg weight gain. He began working with personal trainers at various studios but kept encountering unavailability, insufficient aftercare, overcrowded gyms and low-quality facilities.
Passionate Self Starters
Andy has always been a self-starter and passionate about the potential sport and fitness has to turn people’s lives around. Similarly entrepreneurial, Andy was already running a thriving business before graduating as an audio engineer, and to date his career has seen him writing and recording at Abbey Road as well as creating content for clients such as Nike, Netflix and Facebook.
FIT FOR PURPOSE
When Andy met Scott in 2020 they instantly found they shared the same frustrations about commercial gyms and personal training offerings that fell short of their expectations.
Together they fused a collaborative vision to create DropGym, with a mission to positively impact on people’s health, happiness and lives through enabling them to reach their goals and rediscover their confidence, no matter their starting point.
